PRIMARY PURPOSE: Manage the daily activities of Software engineers relating to the design and development of RF/microwave electrical test systems used in the manufacturing of multi-gigabit cable assemblies. Globally coordinate software development designs from concept to production and system launch/release to high volume manufacturing locations. DUTIES &
Responsibilities: 1. Lead and supervise software engineering staff to ensure the design and development of globally deployable automated production test systems for cable assembly products meet or exceed customer expectations. 2. Hands-on software development experience to extend and refine the capabilities of existing test systems across multiple manufacturing regions. Introduce organization level software development strategy for software development activities with various teams, including product development, manufacturing, marketing, quality, etc. 3. Assist teams with Software testing and troubleshooting of multi-gigabit cable assemblies, data analysis, and root cause / corrective action analysis where necessary. Perform product evaluation and performance analysis. Utilizing standard departmental procedures, develop and modify software test plans to establish performance and reliability of the products being tested. Prepare detailed and complex test reports. 4. Interface with the high speed development teams in the design, development, testing, and implementation of multi-gigabit cable assemblies. Multi-discipline team includes customers, suppliers, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and marketing. 5. Provide technical support for complex, atypical, or escalated issues to internal resources, customers, and/or strategic business partners. Share best practices between teams to ensure global implementation. 6. Evaluate staff performance and development by providing appropriate guidance. 7. Participate in recruitment and selection activities. 8. Understand, support and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S;) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures. 9. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. REQUIRED EDUCATION : B.S. Degree in Electrical/Systems/Computer Engineering PREFERRED EDUCATION: M.S. Degree in Electrical/Systems/Computer Engineering REQUIRED WORK
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of progressive engineering experience with a strong understanding of product design and development. PREFERRED WORK
Experience: At least 2 years of supervisory and/or project lead experience in a technical field. REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: -Excellent leadership, project management, planning, and organizational skills to drive and motivate team to set priorities and systematically meet goals and deadlines. -Experience developing relational databases with software such as Microsoft SQL or MySQL. -Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely with global teams. -Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills demonstrating sensitivity to customer needs and ability to work effectively with others to urgently address issues. -Working knowledge of RF/microwave transmission line theory including s-parameters, Fourier transformers, characteristic impedance, eye diagrams, time-domain analysis, cross talk, bit error rate testing, jitter analysis, etc. -Experience with RF/microwave test and measurement equipment such as digital sampling oscilloscopes, TDR modules, 4-port network analyzers, and bit error rate testers. -Experience with compiled programming languages such as C/C+
or VB with the Microsoft .NET framework and scripted programming languages such and Tcl/Tk or Python. -High proficiency using analytical tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and others as required. -Ability to apply computer programming concepts to solve complex problems in a variety of programming environments. -Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections. PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: -RF/microwave circuit design and PCB layout with software such as Mentor Graphics PADS or Cadence Allegro. Exposure to advanced PCB fabrication methods. 3D modeling with CAD/CAM/CAE software. -Electromagnetic simulation with software such as Ansys HFSS or CST Microwave Studio. -Lean/six sigma yellow or green belt training. Understanding and application of control charts, process capability, gage R&R;, and other lean/six sigma tools.
